At the National Marijuana Business Conference back in November, I had the pleasure of connecting with the Chiefton Supply Co. team. They just so happened to be looking for designers to help with their spring clothing line, and I could not have been more thrilled for the opportunity.
Smokey the Bear
This illustration was inspired by my original "Smokey the Bear" lithograph print from 2013 (pictured right) done for my best bud who loves bears and loves smoking.
When originally creating this print, I actually did attempt printing it onto apparel - a medium t-shirt and a very large baby onesie, to be specific. I also put it on Society6 and had a sweatshirt ordered as a gift for the best bud.
What I realized from these attempts was that the fine line quality used in lithographic prints simply didn't translate well to apparel.
But I liked the concept behind the illustration, and it had been a huge hit with all its spectators. So I decided to give it a boost.
Smokey Dream Catcher
I had more guidance on this illustration from the Chiefton team. The dream catcher raglan from their fall line had been such a success that they wanted to create another piece of apparel with the dream catcher. This one, however, was meant to look more hand-drawn, unlike the other vector-style illustration (pictured at right).
The dream catcher features cannabis leaves mixed with the feathers and a smoke curl weaving throughout.
