Back in February, I posted about my internship with Ayurveda, Yoga & You with Kellen Brugman. (You can view the introduction here.) Since then, a couple of things have kept me from posting an update. One is that school, apparently even during the summer, tends to consume my life. Another is that many of the projects I'm working on now are helping to advance Kellen's business, so I can't go giving out all her strategies online. I can, however, give you a good overview of what I've been doing these past six months. After the two promotional cards mentioned in my first post, I also created a promotional card for Kellen's Spring Cleanse event, pictured here with loose leaves. This card held a different purpose from the Valentine card; it was purely promotional, and did not need a place for Kellen to write client-specific notes. I created it using the brand's fonts, colors, and a watercolor illustration (a reappearing graphic element) to maintain consistency throughout collateral. These cards were placed in businesses in Santa Barbara, CA such as lululemon, Aveda and Lole to advertise for events.
Handouts + Other Collateral
In addition to these cards, I also redesigned the Cleanse Guidebook that Kellen uses for her programs, keeping in mind that she would one day like to publish the book. I have also designed handouts in the same style that can be viewed here, as well as intake forms for new clients. For use in business proposals, I created template layouts for blog posts and small poems to be displayed. Social Media Campaign - #40DaysOfSelfCare
Back in May, Kellen requested that I brainstorm some ideas to help her advance her business. In response, I created a proposal complete with specified goals, a defined target audience, questions to consider, social media outlines, and a myriad of ideas with relevant research, examples, and resources. After discussing ideas, Kellen decided to pursue a social media campaign that I then designed and presented to her in a document outlining instructions on blog posts, Instagram posts, and Mailchimp blasts as well as subscriptions, hashtags, getting started, giveaways, and a schedule. Since the campaign has begun, I've acted as a consultant for the project. The campaign, #40DaysOfSelfCare, is currently going on and can be seen on her blog here or on her Instagram here.
Odds and Ends + What I'm Learning
Supplementing these tasks, I also troubleshoot and manage Kellen's website and Mailchimp account. Additionally, I have been learning tons about entrepreneurship, marketing, management, networking, social media, communication, scheduling, and more. My favorite part, however, has been learning lots about self-care, yoga, and Ayurveda - a traditional Hindu practice that I've come to really enjoy throughout my spiritual exploration.
