Last night, Becca, Rosie and I all road-tripped up to Columbia for the evening to see one of our favorites: Odesza, an electronica duo. We listen to them literally all the time (as in every day) on Pandora while we work on designing, and love just chilling out to the music. We had been waiting since last semester for this day!
It was a blast. We got Chipotle on the way in (greatest decision ever) and even got to hear the opener, Big Wild, who we also loved and are now obsessed with.
Odesza was indescribably amazing. I wasn't sure how an electronica concert would be, but it is now hands down my favorite. They displayed mesmerizing, beautiful videos and patterns in the background with lots of lights that were all to the beat of their music. Knowing how much work it is to make imagery line up with timing, I have the utmost respect and appreciation for whoever designed the videos and stage presence. The two performers were also a lot of fun to watch; you could tell they were passionate about their music and having a great time. I love watching people get lost in their passion.
Not only that, but we saw many a character at the show. There were people with light up scarves and gloves, along with a man in a full body suit of some sort of fictional, furry animal (conveniently located just to my right). The spread of people were quite entertaining. Plus, we weren't in Kirksville anymore. That's always a good day.
I would go to an Odesza concert a million more times. Their energy is so palpable, calming and invigorating all at once.
