Meridians are pathways in our bodies along which vital energy is said to flow. When our bodies are threatened, our triple warmer meridian, which governs the "fight or flight" response, goes into overdrive to protect us. We need the triple warmer to survive, but in today's world where we are consistently threatened by social pressures, our triple warmer is always on alert - and this wears our bodies out and causes us to have anxiety, depression, and even illnesses like asthma.
The reason a body has an allergic reaction is because it's being threatened by something; possibly a food, mold, or tree. You can also have allergic reactions to anxiety; I have had multiple asthma attacks and full-body hive reactions due to anxiety. Any way you look at it, the triple warmer is what's going into overdrive and commanding the rest of your body and other organs on what to do. So, when we're having some sort of allergic reaction, we need to know how to make our bodies feel safe. You have to be the one to listen and respond to your body, and knowing how to calm yourself down is the best way to be in control in a time of allergic panic.
There are a few staples to sedating triple warmer that are great go-tos and easy to remember and practice. An important part of using these techniques is setting your intention to calm your body and make it feel safe. Breathing deeply in through your nose and out through your mouth gets your energy flowing; try an intake through the nose for 4 counts, hold it for 7 counts, and release it through the mouth for 8 counts. This helps us calm our breath and triple warmer.
You can practice this breathing technique on its own (great for if out in public as it is very inconspicuous), or in tandem with other practices.
Tapping / A good way to get energy flowing is by vigorously tapping or buzzing certain acupressure points on our bodies. The less tender it is when you tap, the better your energy is flowing. Keep tapping on a daily basis and you'll see the tenderness dissipate.
