The buzzword "superfood" has been floating around for a few years now, with people fawning over foods like blueberries, kale, and chia seeds.
Another superfood you may not be as familiar with is hemp.
Hemp is a form of cannabis that is packed with incredible nutrients. Some of the most common hemp products on the market are hemp seeds, oil, and protein powder - and there are endless ways to incorporate them into your favorite foods!
Hemp seeds have omega-3 and omega-6 fats, all of the 9 essential amino acids, fiber, protein, and more. There are lots of articles out there to learn more about the benefits of hemp. While we work on our own comprehensive guide to hemp, check out this article by Shape.com about the nutritional benefits of hemp seeds.
One of our favorite ways to add hemp to our diets is by throwing raw shelled seeds into our smoothies. Just three tablespoons of hulled hemp seeds will give you 10 grams of protein, 14 grams of healthy fats, and 2 grams of fiber (Shape.com). Try adding some into your favorite smoothie, or one of our favorites from Myriad Recipe Book featured below!
