After meeting the incredible ladies behind Highland Pantry at Femmenuri's Improving Women's Health with Cannabis event, Kira and I knew we wanted to team up with them.
At the time, Kira and I were still passionately working towards turning "The Cannabis Cleanse" into a nationally recognized brand (we have since discontinued working on this project due to forces outside of our control), so we approached Highland Pantry with an idea to create a co-branded recipe pamphlet that they could leave with dispensaries selling their product, pass out at events and conferences, or neatly package with their own almond butter packets.
The goal was to spread the word about how cannabis enhances wellbeing in an approachable and exciting way while simultaneously creating something useful for consumers.
The pamphlet opens with information about how cannabis works within the body to enhance wellness — all broken down into layman's terms — then features two recipes from Highland Pantry. It also has a couple extra nuggets of information, including why the minds behind this deliciousness chose almond butter as a base for medication.
I personally really liked working on this project because it's easy to substitute Highland Pantry's almond butters with non-medicated butters, making these pamphlets super versatile and applicable to anyone in any state, no matter their cannabis laws. Plus, I love food. And experimenting with new recipes. Win-win-win.
For the designers out there reading this:
One of my biggest struggles with designing promotional material is creating something that consumers will actually want to keep and/or share. My professors used to tell me that all good design ultimately ends up in the trash, so I've made it my mission to always create something that will want to be kept by its owner.
This little pamphlet seemed like a great way to do just that. It's informative yet useful, making it great to keep for a personal reference (and small enough to stick in your recipe box) or share with someone who could use a new recipe or information about their ECS.
When it came to the actual design and layout of this little guy, I combined my clean, flat-lay, matte-background photography style with brushy handlettering and my brand's fonts, all while keeping the color scheme in mind. Those peaches were not chosen by mistake for that photoshoot! :)
