Soul slips through my fingers / softly falling beside the / hole.
The earth is warm; / it waits for me / as slowly, I dig more.
Stains deepen / with each pull, / clogging the space that / love has cooled.
Carefully, I expand this / nest / for the day when / I lay this piece to rest.
